Hello Stewart Descendants,

My name is Rick Stewart. Fellow cousins Marty Grant, Kathy Bobb and myself
are seeking information on a Stewart / Stuart family of Western North
Carolina. John Stewart (c1730/40) and wife Mary Ann (c1740/50) were in
Mecklenburg and Cabarrus and possibly Guilford Co, NC before 1800. Moved to
Buncombe Co, NC before 1803, then later to Haywood Co, NC and finally to
Macon Co, NC where he died 1830, she ca 1842.

John and Mary Ann (what is her maiden name?) had several children,
including: John Stewart Jr, Emelia Stewart (c1770/75) who married Michael
Waters, Jacob Stewart (c1775-1863), Elizabeth Stewart (c1777) married John
Cromwell, and Noah Stewart (c1786-1881). There were probably other
children.These are not all proven.

Noah Stewart, born ca 1786 in NC married Nancy (maiden name unknown, perhaps
Dillard), and lived in Haywood Co, NC until the 1840's when they moved to
Union Co, GA, where she died 1880, he in 1881. They had seven known
children: John Stewart (c1807), married Ruth Tutt; Dillard Stewart
(c1811-1861) married Sarah Wallace; Mary Stewart (c1820) married James S.
Chandler, 2nd Joshua Gilbert; Jacob Stewart (c1822-1881) married Tempey
Stroud Warren; Isam Stewart (c1825-1878) married Margaret R. Rhodes, 2nd
Mary Russell; Caroline Stewart (c1825) married Wesley Rhodes; and Noah
Washington Stewart (1830-1865).

All of Noah and Nancy's children resided in Union Co, GA for a time (except
Dillard), and several moved to Polk Co, TN.

Any information would be appreciated for descendants of old John and Mary
Ann Stewart,as well as any information on their origins and related
families, possibly in Rowan, and Surry County North Carolina, or even
Virginia connections.
