I have had for a while some family notes about my County Tyrone STEWART family
detailing what happened to the children of Alexander STEWART (c1829-1902) and
Mary STARK. Alexander and Mary lived in and near the townland of Glenelly,
Bodoney Upper parish, (clode to town of Plumbridge) County Tyrone. They later
(c1890) moved to close to Omagh.
The note included :
"Elizabeth: Called Lizzie. Went to USA. Married late in life, a man called
Borden. a Norwegian seaman of some sort; she said a sea captain. She adored
him.
Robert and Charlie twins. Went to USA with Elizabeth. I know nothing of them.
"
I got onto the Ellis Island web site the other night
(www.ellisislandrecord.org) and found listed :
STEWART, Eliza. F. 27y.
STEWART, George. M. 23y.
STEWART, Archibald. M. 18y.
All are listed as single, of Irish ethnicity, residents of Tyrone and they
travelled on the ship 'Columbia' departing from Londonderry and arriving in
New York 13 Oct 1902.
They are listed one after another in the passenger listing which is apparently
in random order otherwsie so I have to assume they are my family despite the
difference in names from the story. George and Archibald were children of the
family and the ages 'fit'
