I believe my gg-grandmother, Margaret PORTEOUS (nee STEWART), was born in
the US in 1823 and died in an unknown location in 1892 (perhaps North
Dakota...). Margaret married George PORTEOUS and lived most of her life in
Ontario County, Ontario, Canada. She was reinterred near Port Perry, Ontario
in 1894.

I've been trying to scale my "Margaret" brick wall, but have had little luck
so far.

However, I've just found a Maud STEWART, age 25, born in Ontario and her
daughter, Lottie BENTLY (perhaps Maud was widowed a short time after
marrying) in Winnipeg, Manitoba - lodging with my great-grand uncle, Mark
PORTEOUS, in the 1901 Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada census. The information is
as follows:

P.S. I plan to look up Maud Stewart's birth registration at the Ontario
Archives and will also look for a marriage registration there. I trust I'll
be able to obtain Lottie's birth info from the Manitoba gov't.
