I just looked up this site for the first time. What a project, both Mary's
index and George Edson's magazine! I'm in awe! I found six citations for
Stewarts from Nova Scotia, which I will look up next time I'm in San
Francisco (or sooner, if the family history library in Medford, OR has the
microfilm). My Stewart (actually, my wife's GGGgrandfather) was Robert, born
either in Scotland or in Nova Scotia, about 1795, married to Margaret Irvine
(ditto), and settled in Pictou County. I believe him to be one heading a
two-young-adults household in the 1817 Pictou census, but can't prove it so
far.
