Dear Listers:

Please do not post virus warnings or notices to the list.

If you have concerns regarding viruses, please send your
message to and I will unsubscribe
any whose computer may be infected until they notify me their
computer is virus free.

In this particular warning instance, this person is not currently
shown as a subscriber to the list.

In order to keep your fellow list members protected from any
viruses that may be spread by personal messages to each other
off list, please be sure that you have a current version of
an anti-virus program installed, that it is currently updated
and that you have it activated. The data you save may be your
own!

If it has been a while since you have used your anti-virus program
it is time to get back on track with protection. You can run a
free online scan by visiting http://www.antivirus.com and clicking
through "free tools." You may also download a free version of a
very good anti-virus program called AVG by visiting http://www.grisoft.com

This is also a good time to remind all to be sure to back up your
data -- including your email. It used to be that we had to worry
about unstable environments in our computer causing crashes and
data loss. Nowaday there is an added element of trojan horse
and worm programs putting our data at risk. How often should
one back up their data? As frequently as possible! If you
back up weekly, should there be a data loss either by crash or
by virus, you will only have a week's worth of data to re-enter
or lose. If you only back up monthly your data loss will be
more difficult to recover.

In closing, I will remind you that RootsWeb's mailing lists
are filtered and attachments are removed. A virus that is
distributed as an attachment will not reach you through a
RootsWeb mailing list. To read more, please do visit:
http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/announce.html#virus

I appreciate your cooperation.

Kind Regards,

Lauren
