This means, I'm pretty sure, that the property known as
Nether Carswell (which was probably near someplace
called Upper Carswell) absolutely had to pass down to
the eldest son then surviving -- i.e. at the time the
father died -- with no loopholes of any kind to allow
him to sell it or give it to another member of the
family.
