Playing a very longshot here as I look for my STEWART family in East Lothian
(previously known as Haddingtonshire) I have Andrew STEWART married to
Elizabeth SMITH, possibly at Humbie in East Lothian. According to the parish
register this couple had several children, one of whom was Mary STEWART
(1791-1855) who in 1810 married a David FOGGO at Humbie. Mary's death
certificate states that she is the daughter of Andrew STEWART and Elizabeth
SMITH, but she is not recorded in the parish register and the other children of
this couple are considerably older than she. I speculate that Mary may in fact
be the couple's grandaughter. If born out of wedlock she may have been
refused baptism and hence not recorded in the parish register.
Mary had 6 children and lived at Humbie, Gifford and Smailholm (Roxburghshire).
