Were these Stewart's of yours in Hamilton County, Ohio, during that time
period?

All I have confirmed on William is marriage date of 1836 in Randolph County,
IL, to Nancy Douglas. I have a copy of the original marriage document.

From a pioneer history of Randolph county Illinois an article on his son,
Thomas Robert Stewart (1841 - 1918) gives William's death date when his son
was 9 years old (1850), and having come from Hamilton county, Ohio, as a
young man.

From family oral history William may have had at least one brother and the
spelling of Stewart may have varied. He may have been well educated and a
bit of a rounder. Also from the same source his service in the Mexican War.
Local county history records show an R.W. Stewart from Randolph county,
Illinois, being mustered out.

Do you have any details on the death of your William such as place?

I have a William Stewart in my family, He was born June 4 1815, and died
nov 26, 1857. His father's name was Ezra and mother was Hannah Haff. He
had 5 sisters. Does this tie in with your family?
