Hi Bill, I am sorry that should have been Herndon. I have no idea who your
Charles Eli Stewart is. I wish I could help, but I don´t have any SCM´s for
MS. I may have some Stewarts/Stuart that settled in the Winston Co MS area.
It that near Rankin CO? I know how you feel about research in the deep
South, it is not that easy.

Society, pages 86 - 88, relates the history of Stewarts' Bluff of which the
owners were Charles Ely Stewart and Elizabeth Stewart. Since there were no
other Stewarts in Rankin County, the birthdate of my ggggrandfather, Charles
Eli Stewart, in 1822 in that county at that time has to be one and the same.

Charles Ely is also mentioned in the Stewart Magazine of old, and Mary
Kyritsis has it in her files.

Cumberland/Wake Co NC were Loylists during the Rev War? Also, did they live
anywhere near Fayetteville, NC, maybe around Cross Creek? This was the
first area to be settled in Cumberland Co NC, 1740´s by Highlanders. It was
also an area of a major campaign in the Rev War, many Tories were in thay
county.

No land was owned many any of these men in Surry Co. I have a feeling they
were hiding out, as many Loyalist´s did in NW North Carolina. In 1775, My
ancestor Nathaniel Stuard, under the command of Capt. Wm Sheppard, Capt.
Joseph Herdon and Lt Wm. Lenoir, marched toward " Cross Creek" for one week.
