Dear Teresa, Dick et al,
Everyone seems to be thinking NC to Georgia, so I thought I'd throw my US Most Wanted out there again for everyone to peruse. Is this group mentioned in the book Gone to Georgia? They may have gone from Georgia possibly to Illinois, but that is unconfirmed.
On my most wanted list, is a family group that left Skye for North Carolina in 1810 (or perhaps to Georgia in 1810) and then moved on to Georgia. Peter Stewart and his wife Margaret (nee Stewart) and sons Norman, John and Donald. Peter and Margaret were older and their sons may have had families of their own. If they had more children I do not know. Does anyone know what ship they might have left on or to what part of North Carolina or Georgia, Skye folk emigrated to? Cape Fear comes up, but so far I have no leads. There are so many counties down there! They were joined by cousins Mary and Catherine probably in the1830s.
Anyway I thought I'd see if any names rang a bell with anyone out there. This is one of my last lost sheep to find.
Regards and happy holidays! Santa is giving himself a genealogy book for Christmas!
