Subject: [STEWART] Looking for Baltimore City Stewart family
Date: Sun, 11 Jan 2004 22:05:59 EST

Hi everyone,
I am looking for some information on my Stewart Family from
Baltimore City. This is what I have so far and thanks to two helpful people
on the Baltimore list I have got through some brick walls but lots more to get
through yet.

I need help with the following below:

My fourth great grandfather Henry Stewart born in Baltimore City ? and died ?
He married Adaline Braggs or Briggs (was told that her maiden name was very
hard to read but looks like Braggs) . Information come from Eliza Lyda
Stewart's death certificate and Mrs. Mary G. Porter was the person providing the
information on the certificate.

My third great grandfather's name was Thomas N. Stewart, born August 15, 1849

in Massachusetts and was reared in Baltimore, Maryland. He died December 29,
1911 in the National Military Home in Montgomery Co., Jefferson Twp., Ohio.
Before entering the National Military Home in Ohio he was in the Soldiers and

Sailors Home in Erie, Pa. He served in the U.S. Navy from April 12, 1861 -
July
8, 1872. He Enlisted three times total and was discharged all three times. He

married Mary Ellen Wyant (might also be spelled Weyant) in Westmoreland Co.,
Bridgeport, Pa. in Nov. 25, 1875. Thomas and Mary Stewart had two children
Ida
J. Stewart , b. June 21, 1876 and Simon Henry Stewart born March 3, 1879 in
Fayette Co., Connellsville, PA.

I am looking for any information on Eliza Lyda (AKA "Lizzie") Stewart born
August 25, 1852 in Baltimore City and died April 30, 1941 in Baltimore City. She
was living at these addresses and with these people at the time.

Census year 1910 Baltimore City, Supervisor's Dist. No. 170, Enumeration Dit.

No. 3 A. 11th Ward. Address 1302 Linden Ave. I found Thomas's sister as Lida
Stuart age 50, W F , as a Boarder, living with a Augustus M. Cottem and his
wife Lucy B. and their daughter and son in law Wm. Sterling and a Dollie
Johnston.

Than 1920 Census Baltimore City, Sup. Dist. 3rd, Enum. Dist. 229/ 11 B, Ward
of  14th. Address 1532 Linden Ave. found Lida Stewart age 60, W F as a
Boarder, living with a Mary G. Porter and a sister Ellin and others lived
there as
well.

Than in the 1930 census Baltimore City, I found Lizzie Stewart age 70, W
Female as a Lodger, living at 231 Lavale Street, with Miss Mary G. Porter and

her
sister Frances E. and other Lodgers.

Lizzie Stewart did not have any occupation in any of these census. How did
she ever support herself?

Does anyone know anything about Baltimore City?  The reason I gave the
address in the census where I found Lida or Lizzie Stewart is because maybe
someone
would know something about the area she was living in.

In a copied letter i have Thomas N. Stewart recieved a postal from his sister

in Baltimore in the summer of 1906 saying that he had to come home that his
cousin was very sick and Thomas mentions that he hasn't seen his sister in 35

years. He was in the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Erie, Pa. at the time.

I am looking for any information about my family.

Maybe someone out there can help or has information.
I am running out of leads on my family.

Thanks in advance,
                Kim
