Yes, Marilyn. Addressed to anyone who is interested, including Storey women
who married outside of the Storey family (and too often neglected in
genealogy research !)
The movements of this branch of the Storey family has been interesting.
They did leave various relatives in Co. Durham when sailing for the U.S.
where the movements continued. Their house in Seattle still stands and I
have been interested in buying it for some odd reason only that it dates
back to the late 1800s.
While at a Laundromat in Durham City, I did strike up a conversation
with a gentleman who explained that nearby there were many Storeys.
Regrettably, we did not drive there...we might have found a number of
splinters of our family who were still living there.
I also research with another the Ramsay family which crossed paths and
developed marriages with the Storey family in the same area. It is really
quite an interesting fabric woven between the two families.
But, yes, Storey in England seems as common as Smith; however, the trail
has been more interesting. Do you find Myles or Miles Storey in your
lineage? That seems to be a common name in our family, repeated often
between generations.
Thank you for responding.

Lyle
