1882 Gouverneur Herald
Died. Streeter. In Fowler, Oct 7th, 1882, of consumption, Mr. Orrin
Streeter, aged 29 years. This another of a large family has been cut down
in the prime of manhood and not his many exemplayr traits of character, nor
the care and anxiety of kind friends could save him from the dreaded foe.
Many thanks are due the kind friends among whom he spent his last days, and
from whose midst he was taken to the city of the dead. At the funeral were
witnessed many tears and sad looks bearing testimony to the high esteem in
which he was held. May our faith like his take hold upon the unseen and
across the dark river we be permitted to pass in triumph, and join the
chorus of the skies in ceaseless songs of praise.

Died. Streeter. In North Gouverneur, Oct. 24, 1886, of diptheria, Ruby,
only child of John and Emma Streeter, at the early age of ten years two
months and 5 days. A lovely child of rare promis, leaving many little
reminders of intuitive genius that had bid fair to adorn the finished age
of womanhood. Thoughtful beyond her years, endeavoring to sooth, even in
her last moments the anguish of her weeping parents, trusting with sweet
simplicity in One who said: 'I take these little lambs, And fold them in my
breast, Protection they shall find in Me, In Me be ever blest. And so, as
sorrow's cup we drink, All bitter though it be, How sweet, dear lord,
'twill be to think, She dwells in Heaven with thee. Our bud of promise
there to live, The life but here begun, And may we say, e'en mid our tears,
Thy will, not ours, be done. All things in nature seem to fade, The Autumn
leaves and flowers, All things remind us life and death, Pervade this world
of ours. So let the curtain fall that hides, The future from our sight.
'Twill rise, and we'll behold at length, The glorious realm of light.'
