L. B. Jones Sr., enlisted in the Union Army in Jan 1864 at Fayetteville AR.
He served as a private in the First Battery of Arkansas Light Artillery
Volunteers and was mustered out August 10, 1865, at Fort Smith Ar. While at
Fort Smith, he was "disabled by vaccination with impure matter and results,
and heart disease...contracted about April 1, 1864." The Jones family
resided atop the mountain just south of Withrow Springs State Park. The old
home is still standing today.

****I have been to the old homeplace and I do not believe it is still
standing at this date.
