David Stroud

David Stroud, born at Starksville, Ala. in Pike County, entered the
Confederate service in July 1861, having enlisted as a member of Company I,
15th Alabama Regiment, and in that regiment he served until the surrender at
Appomattox.

He made a gallant soldier, always ready for duty and answering to every roll
call. He returned home after the surrender, and in 1866 was married to Miss
Martha Davidson of Goshen, and to them nine children were born, six of whom
are living. Comrade Stroud died on the 7th of October, 1913, at his home in
Goshen.
