I'm getting ready to look at Civil War pension files to see if I can link together some of the Strouds who originated in NY and PA. I have noticed in the census records that a lot of the midwestern Strouds seem to belong to this group. If any of you have a Stroud ancestor who served from the north and would like me to email you details on what I find in his pension file, you can email me as much of the following information as you know (and be patient, this will probably take me several months). I'll also send some kind of a summary of what I find back out to this list.

name of soldier
birth and death dates and places
other places of residence
where he entered service & the unit he served in
spouse's name, birth and death dates and places
date and place of marriage
was spouse widowed and if so, names of any other spouses
