Civil War pension George W. Stroud (application 769,381 certificate 901,762)
widow Rebecca Stroud (application 859,808 certificate 632,268)

George W. Stroud enlisted Sept. 15, 1864 in Co. I 3rd NY LA. He was
discharged Aug. 30, 1865. He had been born in or near Monroeton, Bradford
Co. PA Oct. 16, 1847. After the war he lived in East Franklin PA 1865-1869,
Monroeton, Bradford Co. PA 1869-1873 and Athens Bradford Co. PA from 1873.
He died Nov. 29, 1906. His death certificate left his father's name blank
and gave his mother's maiden name as Harriet Stroud. the cause of death was
fatty degeneration of heart.

In a declaration made April 14, 1890, he said his height was 5' 9",
complexon fair, hair dark, eyes hazel. His occupation was machinist.

He married his first wife, Sarah Northrup, in 1868. SHe died May 24, 1869.
He married his second wife, Rebecca Ellen Morris Oct. 1, 1872, at Athens PA.
Their children were:

There was an affidavit in the file, dated May 28, 1907, from Mary C. Dorn,
age 60 and Louise Lineham, age 57, both of Athens PA, sisters of Rebecca
Stroud.
