On Feb. 12, 1885, Warnetta Stroud, age 68, deposed that Henry died in a
hospital in Clarksburg Feb. 27, 1862. He had been born in Steubenville Ohio
April 6, 1845. She lived in Uniontown PA when he enlisted. She had five
small children in 1862:

In a later declaration, she added another child, Isabel, born May 8, 1841,

In a affidavit, she said she had lived in Uniontown, Fayette, Co. PA until
1866, then Broadford, same county and then Dunbar.

In a letter for the War Dept., Surgeon General's office Henry's cause of
death was typhoid fever.

On Feb. 14, 1885, William Stroud, age 70, made a deposition. He was of
Dunbar, Fayette Co. PA, occupation carpet weaver. He said Henry was 16 or
17 when he enlisted, William himself volunteered in Co. K, 112 PA Hvy Arty.
He said he had slight rheumatism when he enlisted. He hadn't filed for a
pension because he had rheumatism before he volunteered. He said he
enlisted because their son, Henry, had died and that took away their chief
support from them.

(William did file for a pension 3 years later. I sent his pension
information a while back. His numbers were application 649,438, certificate
