In case you don't already have this: Morrell Stroud received a pension as the father of a soldier who died in service during the Civil War. You can get a copy the file from the National Archives, application # 205773, certificate #165381.

His son, Jacob, was the only son of his first marriage to Cornelia (no maiden name given). They had been married about 1840 at Rockford Illinois and she died at Lodi Wisconsin April 29, 1852. The son, Jacob D. Stroud, died April 8, 1864.

An Aug. 31, 1872 statement listed Morrell's 3 children who were under the age of 16, but it was difficult to read. It looked like Ida, age about 15, Ada, age about 12 and (illegible) age about 9.
