> Hi Teresa,
> I always read your posts anxiously as you seem to have the scoop on
everything! :) I have been searching my 4th great-grandfather William
Stuart for about a year now (I'm a newbie). Here's the info I have.
>
> William Stuart Sr. Born 1750 - 1770 in NC (nothing confirms this). In
his 1833 will, he left all land to youngest son William Jr. with the
stipulation that his wife Nancy was to remain on the land until her death.

> Children: Agnes born 1792 in NC
> Robert born 1796 in NC
> James born 1798 in Sumner County, TN
> Marcus (my 3rd great-grandfather) born 1805 in Sumner
County, TN. Later

lived.
> William Jr. born 1810 or 1811 in TN

> Elizabeth born ?

and Nancy's marriage record to no avail. I took a trip to TN in March and
met my 2nd cousin (met online). We did a lot of searching. We found in the
tax lists that William, Robert, James and Marcus all had land in the Dry
Fork Creek/Bledsoe Creek area. We searched all the known cemeteries there,
but did not find William or Nancy's headstone. A witness on William's will,
Peter Bryson, is buried in the Old Hopewell Baptist Church cemetery. We
were excited about that, figuring we were in the right area.

have pictures of he and his wife, Elizabeth Bibb's tombstone.

could be found by your request.

> Hi listers,
> I am trying to find any information on a certain William Stewart who has 2
land entries for Surry Co NC, Little Fishers River 1778 and 1780. This
William had a brother or son named James who bought land in 1787 from
Cornelius Keith JR, 50 acres on Little Fishers River. Wits: William Stewart
and Duncan Keith.
> William and James disappear after the 1790 head of household and census of
Surry Co NC. Nearby William on the 1790 Head of Household, is a Joseph
Lasswell/Lacewell/Lassfield/Lacefield. I mention all these spellings because
that is the way it can appear from old documents. A William Stewart married
Uranah Lacefield in Rowan Co NC ca. 1768, with John Stewart , Martin
Armstrong as security and bondsman. On the 1768 Gideon Wright tax list for
Rowan Co NC, I find LASWELL, and several STEWARTS. Surry was taken from
Rowan Co in 1770, and Gideon Wrights district was later to become part of
Wilkes CO NC.
> I know of one man named Monroe Stewart in Louisiana, who is searching for
a William Stewart born ca. 1756 in VA, he had sons, William born 1783 in
NC,Bartholmew born 1786 in VA and the rest in VA and TN. Monroe Stewart of
Louisiana, had thought his William married a Mary HUDSPETH and moved with
family to the Madison Co TN area and may have been in Hickman, Cheatham and
Montgomery Co TN as well. I understand the proximity of Little Fishers River
to the VA line, as I walked it just 2 weeks ago. One starts out in tiny
Lambsburg VA, and about 2 blocks away is Surry Co NC. Records for anyone
living this close to the VA/NC line can, and will be found in both states.
Lambsburg VA is in Carroll Co VA but has been in Henry, Pittsylvania,
Halifax, Brunswick, and Patrick CO VA. When William entered land in 1778 and
1780, it would have been inear Henry CO VA. In 1768 he would have been near
Pittsylvania Co VA. On the Surry Co NC tithables for 1774 (same district), I
find, Willia!
> m, Charles (of Wake Co NC?) and Nathaniel STEWARD.
> On the bible owned by William Stewart´s (born 1756 VA) son, it has JAMES
crossed out 5 or 6 times. Can anyone lead me to more clues on William and
James Stewart of VA and NC?
