G'Day All,
We wonder whether you might be able to help us in our research [my
wife's maiden name is Stagoll]:
We are interested in:
STAGOLL: any place (but especially Suffolk, London and Norfolk): after
1750
STAGOLL is a variant of STYGAL(L)/STIGALL/STEGALL.
It appears that this variant has disappeared in Suffolk, but exists in
Australia. Within the family the research carried out establishes that
(all?) STAGOLLs in Aus are descended from two brothers (William and John
Wesley) who emigrated to Tasmania c1850. We have been to Suffolk and
found evidence of the appropriate STAGOLLs in the parishes of Wangford
St.
Peter & St. Paul, Bramfield, Halesworth and Holton St. Peter in Suffolk
and,
we think, in St. Botolph without Aldgate, St. Olave Hart Street and St.
Andrew Holborn in London.
We have a Stagoll WWW site. Please look at it and let us know what
you think and if you have any information of interest. In particular,
have a look at the Notes and Questions section. N.B. some of the pages
on our site are currently empty.
The URL is:

Hope you can help us!
Tim.
