Rita, if I have already answered this question then my apologies. But I
had your file tucked away and I have no record of having answered. I
notice in your letter of 15 June that you are researching the family of
MARTIN. I have a MARTIN family that comes from that area athough the later
generations seem to come from Essex at Braintree. The earliest MARTIN that
I have is Edward who married Mary BARFOOT at Assington in Suffolk in 1796.
We don't know where Edward came from but there is some suggestion that he
may have come from Suffolk-really very weak evidence. Anyway, I'll look
