Hello everyone

Suffolk Family History Society is pleased to announce that
Volume 18 of the Suffolk 1851 Census Index is now published; the
result of thousands of hours of voluntary work.

If you have already ordered, you should receive your copy any day
now.

Details of all Suffolk Family History Society publications may
viewed at the Society website
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/SFK/sfhs/sfhs.htm
(this site is due for updating soon)

If you wish to order, here are the details ........

Volume 18 covers the 28 parishes (or communities) in the
Wangford District of North-East Suffolk. 14008 people are
indexed in one sequence in Surname/Forename/Age order. The
information printed in the index gives the surname,
forename(s), age, county (or country) of birth, parish of birth
and folio number for each person enumerated.

The folio number may be used to locate the page (or the microfilm
frame) on the original census PRO reference HO 107/1804 where
you will find more information such as occupation and
relationship to the head of the household. The folio number also
cross references to the table printed on the inside front cover
of the index which indicates the parish where the person was
enumerated on census night in 1851.

The people indexed (in one sequence) in Volume 18 lived in these
parishes on census night.

Any surplus from sales will be ploughed back in transcribing,
checking and indexing more Suffolk data, which is what we all
want. Your support in purchasing the Index not only makes the
project possible but encourages SFHS members who devote
hundreds of hours of unpaid voluntary time to continue producing
high quality indexes in the future. There is still a vast amount
of original Suffolk genealogical records which need indexing.
Please note that the Indexes are the Copyright of the Trustees
of Suffolk Family History Society and that no part or extract
may be reproduced in any form without written permission.

Volume 19 of the Suffolk 1851 Census Index covering the Mutford
District (Lowestoft area) will be published sometime in 1999. I
will give a more precise date in this list when known.

Thank you for your support. I hope that the Index will help you
find that missing link in your research.
