Subject: WOOLNER 1861 census
Date: Thu, 5 Aug 1999 14:19:28 EDT
If anyone has access to the 1861 or 1871 census for BRAMPTON (near
Halesworth), Suffolk, I would really appreciate it if they would keep a look
out for SARAH WOOLNER (who would be about 64/74), married to my 3 x gt
grandfather JAMES WOOLNER.
Sarah, nee TURNER, married James at Brampton in 1820, but the notes I took
when I visited the Suffolk RO last year did not give a parish for Sarah.
Then, when I bought the 1851 census index, I found both Sarah and James (in
Brampton where I hoped they would be), but Sarah's birthplace has been left
blank!
James died at Brampton age 79 in 1875, and Sarah also died in Brampton age 86
in May 1880, so it is likely that they would have both been in Brampton for
the 1861 and 1871 census. I would dearly love to know Sarah's birthplace.
Do hope someone can help. (By the way, the WOOLNER surname is often spelt as
WOOLNOUGH, but in this particular case it seems to be quite consistently
WOOLNER).
Ever hopeful.
