Just in reference to the whole Suffolk/Canada connection, was there a
big push to move to Canada in the early part of this century? My
great-grandfather Charles Albert WARNES (born Beccles, June 11, 1888)
moved from Beccles to somewhere in Canada (and back again after the
war) at this time. My mother thinks he may have been a remittance man,
but that's just a theory - we're not sure why he went to Canada, or
where he was over there, all we know is that he married before he left
and it didn't agree with his wife, who either died over there or on
their return. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
