Have just returned from a few weeks away - and spent 2 days in Suffolk
visiting the Thorndon area where my grandfathers people came from.
At Debenham - which has a rather large churchyard, quite overgrown in
places, I came across the following FAIRWEATHERS, none of mine but may
be of interest to others.
Harry Edward FAIRWEATHER, died at Lowestoft, 9 Dec 1882, aged 24 years.
Served as Constable in the Suffolk Police for 3 years and 9 days. Erected
by the members of the Force.
.............................
a very badly worn stone: - Charlotte FAIRWEATHER, the beloved wife of Jowel
(??) FAIRWEATHER, died ? April 1826 aged 69 years - unable to read more
........................................
the next stone was even more worn - In memory of Mary FAIRWEATHER ..........
182?
Jommel FAIRWEATHER .................................
(just names I'm afraid)
We also looked in Thorndon, Wetheringsett, Occold, Mendlesham and Wingfield
but found no others - certainly none that were legible.
Hope the above are of some use to someone.
Lynne
