When I visited the FRC early in the year, by chance I spotted perfectly
working 1901 census terminals. An approximate guess is around 50 terminals
but could be more or less. There is a queuing system whereby you are given
the next number in sequence where the current user has bypassed their 1 hour
access limit. I happened to log in enough up the list and near the end of
the day to have a longer access limit on the machine. Pity the 5 coupon I
had ran out too quickly. Next time I will know better. The A3 printouts
are pretty good and at 20p pretty reasonable.

I haven't used the index anywhere other than the attempts at home and the
visit in London so cannot voice an opinion there.

Hello,
I'm one of the lurkers on this list. I will be travelling from
Canada to England next week and will have some time to do research. My
itinerary takes me first to Ipswich but I am thinking of stopping in London
before taking the train to do some checking in the 1901 Census at the FHC.
Could anybody tell me whether this would work? Are there long lines
for access to the terminals? My flight arrives at 8:20 a.m. on Monday, so I
would not be able to get into the city before about 9:30 or 10:00.
Unfortunately, I need the index because I don't know where my people
went and I assume that the microfiche available in Ipswich can only be
searched by place. Or am I wrong there too?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
