Hi Laurence,
OAKES is one of my names for Suffolk. I have the families of William Oakes
(~1759) with wife Sarah PORTER and Edward Oakes (~1761) with wives Ann
CHAMBERS then Elizabeth Unknown in Thorpe Abbots, Norfolk in the C19.
You have marriage of Joseph Oakes July 1797, Cratfield and Joseph is also a
re-occurring name in the group of Oakes just across the border. Any idea
where your Joseph was born?
Valerie
