Hello,
Danny could be right, but on the other hand, the date of the 1881 Census was
Sunday 03 April, so why should the enumerator have made visits in January,
February, and March? Also, what would the "8" by itself mean? Anyway, if
they were dates, it still would not explain why the numbers seem only to be
found against manual workers' names, or rather, against their occupations.
