Hello Jo - from very frosty and chilly Suffolk!
Denston is in the Risbridge Hundred, in the west of Suffolk, and about six
miles north of the little town of Clare (which you should find easily on
www.streetmap.co.uk)
Denston (or occasionally written as Denerdiston in ancient documents)
records for the parish church of St Nicholas are available on just 10 fiche
at the SRO from 1561 - 1900 and they have been filmed.
It is still a very small village, and in the mid 1800's the population was
just over 300.
A full list of Suffolk parishes can be found on the web site
www.suffolk-surnames-list.co.uk and the church can be found on
www.suffolkchurches.co.uk
Best regards, Pat ...
Every time I find an ancestor - I have to find two more!

> I'm looking for my gx3 grandfather John WHITE. In the 1871 Census in
Basford, Notts, he is supposed to have been born in Denston (I think)
Suffolk. But he moved to Ironville, Derbyshire and then to Basford,
Nottingham. He was 41 in 1871 census, so was born around 1830.

Deuston. And where in Suffolk is it?

Leicestershire, born abourt 1836.

child, Mary Ann, is only 3 years old.
