There is an Esther MENDHAM, widow, age 26 in the 1961 census residing as a
House Servant at West Street, Mildenhall who is said to be born in the town.
Is this your Esther Mendem?

What was William's occupation - could he have been working/residing in
Prickwillow at the time of marriage?

At what church did the marriage take place - there was a strong
non-conformist movement in that area that could have influenced the place of
marriage. As the certificate should show the church, an enquiry to the
Cambridgeshire List might find someone to look at the original church
register to see if there are details that are not on the certificate.

Ely/Prickwillow and Mildenhall/West Row are not too distant from each other
so I think that you have a strong candidate.

Hope that this is of some help.

Brian
