My name is Gene Shields. My gg grandfather, Joseph Henry Collins and
his son, James Robert were both captured at Sulfur Trestle and sent to
Chahaba prison. Both were on the Sultana. Joseph parished but James
survived and lived til 1919. Joseph must have really believed in the
cause for he was 46 years old with a wife and 11 children when he joined
the 3rd Tenn. Cavalry.
