You could try the Post Office Archives in London. They certainly keep
records of their own employees (eg postmen) and would seem to be the most
likely source for records of postmasters/mistresses. Their address is "Post
Office Archives, Freeling House, Mount Pleasant Complex, London EC1A 1BB".
They would be able to tell you what records are available but I do know
that they are unable to do searches so you might need to engage a
professional researcher unless you are planning a UK visit yourself. In the
latter case the staff at the Archives are extremely helpful and they have
the usual copying facilities, drinks machines etc etc.
