I think this was quite a common use for old Railway Carriages at one time -
I can recall a similar occurrence at Hayling Island, Hampshire, and I
believe there were also some around Pagham way too. A lot of these were
actually of significant interest to railway preservationists and have been
recovered by some of the preserved railways in the area - it may be worth
contacting the Bluebell Railway or the Kent & East Sussex (Thought I had
their website addresses, but can't find them at the moment!). Old buses and
trams often met a similar fate (much more interesting!!)
