One reason for this that I have not as yet seen mentioned ( forgive me
if I missed it) is that the incumbent entered the event in the
register at the time, and then again later, thinking that he had
forgotten, I have known the local Vicar to write all the details on a
slip of paper, intending to enter it in the register later on and then
find the slip in his pocket ( perhaps after it had been through the
wash :-)) ) and enter it again , maybe several weeks later. Also, the
practise of naming a new child after one previously deceased accounts
I am sure for many of these which occur after an interval of several
