I relayed this story to a friend of mine who has lived in Georgia his whole
life. He is a true Southern gentlemen and an American Patriot so he offered
up another explanation. He told me that when he was growing up his school
did not recognize Federal Memorial Day. They only talked about Confederate
Memorial Day. He was aware of the Federal holiday just the same becasue he
had a number of relatives serving in the military,

Interestingly enough, he has recently had his geneology done and was
mortified to learn that he has 5 Union ancestors an no confederate ancesters
in his blood line.I have asked him to join the SUVCW but says that he can't
because it would "kill" his father who is active in several pro-confederate
organizations.
