Family history says Daniel Webster SWITZER had 7-8 brothers and one sister,
he was the youngest. He was the only one at home, the others had gone to
war. Father was shot by snipers, Mother ran to assist and was shot. DW ran
out back door, mounted a horse, and ran for it. [Maybe there is a grain of
truth in this story but census records would indicate it predates Civil War
and Quantrill's raiders. We did find a similar story in Hornet, MO area
where DWS lived....Wagon train passing through and all were killed in Indian
raid. One young boy escaped and hid in bushes. He caught the next wagon
train passing through. Years later he returned to find out about his family.
No names were given.]

DWS was b. ca 1840 (census) in Cincinnati, OH. First found (probable)on
1860 census Jasper Co., MO., living with unrelated family whose name is hard
to read (TRINNEL?). Found on 1865 census w/ wife, Martha and 2 children in
Wyandotte Co., KS.; 1880 census Jasper Co., MO; 1882 & 1885 deeds
in Bates Co., MO; 1900 census Newton Co., MO; died Newton Co., MO 1922. His
parents have been variously listed as from PA, SC, Germany.

DWS' sons involved in working lead & zinc mines. Two of them died in mine
accidents in Joplin, MO., area.

John SWITZER is the only brother DWS ever found. John was in TX & moved to
Colorado. He was married to Martha J. BINKLEY and had a son, Jacob Binkley
SWITZER.

DWS' 1st wife, Martha BUSTER, was b. KY. Children: Mary Ann SWITZER m.
Joseph HOSP; John W.SWITZER (possibly d. young); Charles Henry SWITZER m.
Dora Lee DAVIS; Nettie SWITZER m. Bill COLBURN; Clarence Omer SWITZER (our
ancestor) m. Minnie ROUTLEDGE; Lola Arzelia SWITZER m. Thomas R. SCHELL;
Thomas SWITZER ( 1883 - 1915 ); Fred SWITZER (1885 - 1906).

Can anyone identify with any of this iformation? Do you have similsr family
stories that might provide a lead or connection? 'm running out of ideas.
