I am trying to find the parents of William France, b. about 1760, who
first appeared in Washington County, VA in 1784, and in Lee County, VA
in 1803. He married Elizabeth Heiskell and they had 9 children. He
died 1834 in Lee County, VA.

He was either a German immigrant, or the son of a German immigrant,
likely coming through Philadelphia, and the name was probably spelled
Frantz at that point.

There is a John France who signed a petition 10 Dec. 1785 (against
religious assessment bill) in Washington County, VA who possibly could
be a brother. Does anyone know who this is?

If anyone has been able to locate parents for this William France (my GG
Grandfather) I would love to hear from you.
