Subject: [Scioto-Valley-OH-L] "VET SLERUN" Deciphering

Dear Judy Lee Nichols,

You asked for help in deciphering the place of birth of a
woman, state or country, which in the handwriting of the one
who recorded the information looked like "VET SLERUN".

I have two suggestions. First, it might be "Sweden", which
is "Sverige" in their language.
The second possibility is "Switzerland", whose official
names are "Schweitz", "Suisse" and "Svizzera", in the three
languages which are spoken in that alpine country [German,
French and Italian]. In addition, the name used at the time
of the recording of the information might have been
different than today's.

The pronunciation of any of these names when transcribed by
the recorder could have resulted in the version you have
found. Then again, the answer might be something completely
different. I submit these thoughts for your consideration,
in the hope that they may be of help.
