Part I; Antrim Deeds

The Earl of Antrim deposted numerous records at the Public Records
Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) and the Antrim Deeds cover the period
of 1610 thru 1784 for Counties Antrim and Derry. Approximately 306
documents and mostly leases. These were very helpful on finding where my
ancestor lived and in some cases contain alot of genealogical data. If
you want to learn more about these documents visted the PRONI web page
and look under Records Held and then Landed Estate Records. The 1928
Deputy Keepers Report for Northern Ireland has an index to the names to
these leases, it states the persons full name, townland or farmland, and
year of lease, use this first to find out if any of your names you are
researching are in there and if there is order the LDS Family History
Library film called Calendar of Antrim Deeds: FHL# 0258733, this
calendar list the persons name, year of document and a brief discription
of the lease. If you want a copy of the original document you will have
to go to the PRONI or have a researcher or someone there get it for you,
the catalog that list the needed reference numbers to these deeds can
only be found at the PRONI and no where else, BUMMER! I'll try to put
other Landlord records here as time permits. Have fun Lew
