Sharon,

Their names were William Oehler and Louisa Kaeshammer. I've also seen it
spelled Kaishamer. They were both German immigrants who came to St. Louis and
then moved to Cairo, Illinois around 1869. They were the only ones who moved
to Illinois.

My g grandfather built a shop that manufactured wagons. There were living
quarters above the shop and that's where they lived. My grandmother was their
daughter and her husband worked in the shop and they continued to live above
it after my g grandparents deaths. I am fortunate that I know about them. My
mother was my grandparents their only child and we also lived above the shop
with them while my father was in Korea and Japan in the Army in the 1950s and
we visited every summer.

The wagon shop finally closed in 1954 and my grandparents died in 1958 and
59. My mother sold the shop and it later burned down. She got rid of a lot of
their things. However, she also saved some of the furniture, papers etc. My
sister and I just recently went through all the papers and that's when we both
started getting interested in genealogy. We would like to trace the family
further back.

I know that some of their relatives stayed in St. Louis. I would really like
to know the names of my great grandparents parents and also their siblings.
Kathy
