Marcia and List -
The folks that work the marriage and land records are totally different
than the St. Louis Health Department where you get birth and death
records. Sandy and Tom at the marriage license office do a *great* job
on the records that they have control over and I would hate to see them
get a "bad rap" because of the birth/death certificate delays. These
two offices are not even in the same building.

Hi All,
I have had one experience with vital records in St.Louis and it was very
positive.I called the number I found on the genweb site and asked for the
proper procedure for requesting a marriage certificate from 1888.The
gentleman looked up the record and called me back within 10 minutes. It was
in my mailbox within the week.
I need to request a search for a death certificate and I will make another
phone call. Long distance sure adds up and I would like to help- writng a
letter sounds like a good idea.LOL to everyone.
