Subject: [TAFFET] A new resource page added to Rootsweb for TAFFET

Hello subscribers,
I once thought that the pages like the new one I just found for Taffet
were limited to the so called "cluster boards" and "cluster lists" that
were added to Rootsweb back in the summer of 1999. At that time,
Rootsweb went through a massive board and list creation effort, and
centralized links to all the various resources from what were called
"cluster pages". Only the top 10,000 surnames being researched at
Rootsweb were added through this method (if they didn't already exist
that is).
As you can imagine, TAFFET is certainly NOT among the 10,000 most
popular surnames being researched, so no cluster page was created.
I finally got around to requesting this list and the boards to go with
it, and now, to my surprise, there is a "cluster page" for TAFFET,
probably added as a result of my request...
Here is a link to this page:
http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/t/a/TAFFET/
I have requested that the Taffet Surname Mailing List Homepage be added
as a website link pertaining to the name; that should take place
sometime within the next 24 to 48 hours or so.
One of my first data posts that doesn't relate to my own family will be
the Taffets found in the Ellis Island database. I have been gathering
together the information as to who travelled together on which ship, and
where they were going to/who they were going to stay with in the U.S.
Too bad my husband's great-grandfather came through Castle Garden
several years before Ellis Island opened up....
But fortunately, some evidence of the time of immigration to the U.S. is
found in the 1900 census. Too bad it doesn't agree with the
naturalization documents!

Mary Taffet
