I can't help immediately with your Tankersley and Brock search, but did take special note of the Tankersley link you mentioned with Ellis Co., TX.
My great-great grandfather, Dr. William Alexander Tankersley moved from Tishomingo Co., MS to Ellis Co., TX, with his third wife, Eugenia Tolbert Bailey Tankersley,about 1894. They settled near Pluto, and remained there until their deaths in 1913 & 1919. I always wondered what the family connection might be, and assumed there could have been other Tankersley kin in the area. Dr. Tankersley was about age 65 at the time of the move to TX, and may not have practiced medicine in his Texas community, as he had in MS. Should you find information on this family as you continue your research, I would certainly like to hear from you. You mentioned photographs, and I have a number of orphan photographs that were in an album left by W. A. Tankersley. None are identified as of this date.
