I am seeking information on Philip Tanner and his wife Mary, of Chester
Co., PA. Philip had a will dated 1750-51. His children were:
Philip, Joseph, Hannah (who married William Henry), Rachel (who married
John Dickey), Rebecca (who married John Crosier) and James.
Joseph and James Tanner and the Templeton family were in Wilkes Co., N.C.
in the 1780's. These Tanners along with some Templetons were from Chester
Co., PA.
Joseph Tanner supposedly died about 1804 in Kentucky (possibly in Madison
Co., KY). He had a will in Wilkes Co., N.C. naming Thomas Tanner as his
heir. I do not know if Thomas was his son or a brother.
It is possible that this Philip Tanner was the son of Thomas Tanner who was
from Talbot Co., MD. Thomas had sons Philemon (Philip ?), Benjamin, and
Thomas, and daughters Ruth, Sarah and Rachel.
