Samuel C.Tanner, my gggrandfather, born New York state.,was living in Whitehall NY 1848, married Catherine Meacham, born Whitehall 1833, about 1851-1855, they moved To Selma Ala early 1850's where he had been involved in the Lumber business, constructing Arbors, etc for wealthy southern planters- Samuel was also a life-long Episcopalian, beleive he had a brother Dr. A.H. Tanner who was mentioned in his estate settlement as being co-signer to a loan in 1858 . This Dr Tanner could also have been an Uncle, possibly even his Father., I seek to connect this Samuel with other New York Tanners, Ultimately would like to find out exactly who his parents were . Anyone who could shed any light? Thanks- Mike
