>Seeking information Tanner family in Rhode Island. Charlotte Tanner (b.
1795 Smithfield RI) m. William Olney (b. 1792, Gloucester RI). They moved
to Iowa, William to Oregon after Charlotte died. Any help finding parents
of Charlotte TANNER greatly appreciated.

She is in the book William Tanner of North Kingstown RI and his
Descendants, by Geo. Tanner (1905).

"Charlotte, dau. of Benjamin (17) and Thankful (Stafford) Tanner, b. in
Greenfield, NY (Ballston); m. February 1809, William Olney at Greenfield,
NY, and removed to Oregon.

"Children as given in the Olney Genealogy:
JOHN, CYRUS, WILLIAM, NATHAN, BENJAMIN TANNER, BYRON, ORVILLE."

Then, under Benjamin, her father:

"Benjamin, WIlliam, WIlliam, William, son of WIlliam (9), b. ----- in
Exeter, RI; m. -------- Thankful Stafford, res. Greenfield.... Was in the
Regiment under Col. John Harper, in 1780, Drake's Company (revolution),
Harper's and Malcom's Levies."

He lists 8 children, 5 males born 1783--1793 and 3 females, including
Charlotte, with no birthdates given.

Her grandfather was William, son of William and Hannah, b. Sept 22, 1712,
in North Kingstown, RI. He lived in Exeter, RI. There is quite a bit about
him in the book.

Her g-g-father was WIlliam of N. Kingstown, the subject of the book, b.
before 1692. Also quite a bit about him.

H g-g-g-father was William of S. Kingstown, the emmigrant from England, who
arrived before 1682 and died around 1713.
