I'm looking for the parents and siblings of my Great Great Grandfather. His name is James Dexter Tanner. He was born in Upper Sandusky, Ohio about 1848. He married Harriett Elliott about 1870 in Michigan. On the 1880 Census they were living in Woodbridge, Hillsdale County, Michigan with three children. Ages listed were: "Dexter" - 31 born Ohio. Harriett - 27 born in Michigan, Caroline - 9, Edwin - 7, and Elvin - 3 all born in Michigan. The 1880 Census also states that "Dexter's" mother and father were both born in NY. James Dexter died in Michigan in February 1929.

The child, Edwin, listed above was my Great Grandfather. He married Ella Mae Mishler in 1899. They were divorced by 1905. In 1905, Ella Mae Mishler Tanner married Earl Sheldon and had more children.

Edwin's son, Carlin (Carl) James Tanner born 1900, died 1996 was my grandfather. Carlin married Hazel Elizabeth Powers and had 5 children, Carlin James Tanner, Jr., Ella Mae Tanner Gallivan, Floyd Marvin Tanner, Dorthey Marie Tanner Syndergaard, and Audrey Louise Tanner.
