Descendancy Narrative of Thomas Tarver

I. Thomas TARVER was born circa 1778. He married Judy COCKERHAM,
daughter of John COCKERHAM
Sr. and Elizabeth BRAMBLEY, between 1798 and 1799 at Barnwell, SC.

A. Elizabeth TARVER. Her married name was ISAAC. She was born circa
1800 at Barnwell, SC. She
married Samuel ISAAC on 24 February 1816 at Amite, MS. She died by Oct
1844.

B. Wilson TARVER was born in 1804 at SC. He married Malinda between
1822 and 1824. He was
blacksmith in 1850 at Amite, MS. He appeared on the census of 1850 at
Amite, MS.

1. Samuel Wilson TARVER was Blacksmith at Boyce, Rapides, LA. He was
born on 31 October
1825 at Pike, MS. He married Mary Ann LILLY, daughter of William LILLY
and Elizabeth "Betsey"
MILLER, on 26 April 1849 at Amite, MS. He began military service on 7
October 1864 at Baton
Rouge, EBR, LA, Military 1st La. Cav. (GAR). He appeared on the census
of 26 June 1880 at Ward 2,
Winn, LA. He died on 30 April 1919 at Boyce, Rapides, LA, at age 93. He
was buried in April 1919 at
National Cem., Pineville, Rapides, LA.

a) Russell Marion TARVER was born on 9 April 1853 at MS. He married
Aletha Ann Minerva
WILSON on 1 February 1872 at Amite, MS. He appeared on the census of 26
June 1880 at Ward

(2) Marion Crawford 'Bud' TARVER was born on 26 April 1875. He married

(1) John Wesley TARVER was Pentecostal minister of the gospel.
'...build and pastored
several churches in the area. John also was a skilled carpenter,
blacksmith and farmer.
John built several railroad cross-tie sawmills, one was built on wheels
and after earning a
living with it himself for awhile, sold it to Mr. Bryant Ford of the
Aimwell Community.' He
was born on 30 June 1897 at Avoyelles, LA. He married Marie Annette
KELLY, daughter of
John Robert KELLY and Mary Elizabeth REEVES, on 26 May 1918 at
Catahoula, LA. He
died on 16 October 1977 at Catahoula, LA, at age 80. He was buried in
October 1977 at Pine
Grove Baptist Cem., Catahoula, LA.

(a) J. J. TARVER was farmer, carpenter and auto mechanic. He lived at
Houston,
Harris, TX. He was born on 12 September 1919 at Rapides, LA. He married
Gladys
Elizabeth CLARK, daughter of Thomas Philip CLARK and Alma R. (--?--), on
16
August 1940 at LaSalle, LA. He began military service in June 1945 at
WWII '...served
in the European Theatre of War under the Command of Gen. George C.
Patton and was
among the first troops to land on the coast of Europe during the great
invasion. H
received a purple heart for a combat injury. After being discharged
June 1945 at Camp
Shelby, Mississippi.' He died on 2 September 1999 at Houston, Harris,
TX, at age 79.

(b) Gladys Ovetta TARVER. Her married name was JOY. She lived at Jena,
LaSalle, LA.
She was born on 4 January 1922 at Cedar Grove, LA. She married Woodrow
Manning
JOY on 28 September 1940 at LaSalle, LA.

(c) Adina Orlea TARVER. Her married name was GREEN. Her married name
was
CIRILO. She was born on 24 April 1926 at Catahoula, LA. She married Ray
GREEN on
24 February 1942. She lived after 1952 at Houston, Harris, TX. She
married Eleazar
CIRILO, son of Eulajio C. CIRILO and Guadalupe GUERRA, on 25 April 1952

(d) James Robert TARVER was pressroom supervisor for Bemis Co., Inc at
Crossett,
AR. He lived at Crossett, AR. He was born on 24 October 1928 at
Catahoula, LA. He
married Nettie Faye DEATON on 5 June 1954 at Harris, TX.

(e) Harold Clifford TARVER began military service at U. S. Army,
retired. He lived at
Polk, TX. He was born on 19 June 1931 at Catahoula, LA. He married Vera
Jean
COLEMAN, daughter of Johnny COLEMAN and Earline COWART, at Harris, TX.

(f) Carroll Clifton TARVER was born on 19 June 1931 at Catahoula, LA.
He married
Eunice Marie ASHLEY, daughter of John Thomas ASHLEY and Mollie
NETHERLAND.

(1) Dollie L. TARVER was born on 29 May 1882. She died on 24 November
1884 at Winn,
LA, at age 2. She was buried in November 1884 at Beech Creek Cemetery,
Winn, LA.

(2) Rosa TARVER was born on 27 February 1895.

(3) Etta TARVER was born on 15 October 1897. She died in 1982.

This is my husband's grandmother: (4) Arminda TARVER. Her married name
was
GILMORE. Her married name was WHITE. She Elsie Branch Laurent: She was a
real sweet
person. She was real loveable with us kids. Every Sunday we would go
over for dinner then
afterwards go out and she would play games with us. At Easter when we
went out to hunt
eggs, she would get a basket and hunt with us. Mama (Gertrude Gilmore)
looked so much
like her. She was buried at Garden of Memories, Winnfield, Winn, LA. She
was born on 9
February 1900 at LA. She married Henry M. GILMORE, son of Abner GILMORE
and
Josephine KEEN, on 28 December 1916 at Ft. Necessity, Franklin, LA. She
married Joseph
Alexander WHITE, son of W. Henry WHITE and Anna Elizabeth LUCAS, on 29
October
1920 at Ft. Necessity, Franklin, LA. She died on 19 April 1969 at
Winnfield, Winn, LA, at
age 69.

(a) Eva Gertrude GILMORE. Her married name was FRANKS. Her married name
was
BRANCH. She was born on 12 November 1919 at Winn, LA. She married Jimmie
FRANKS on 16 November 1936 at LA. She and Jimmie FRANKS were divorced on
6
May 1938 at Natchitoches, Natchitoches, LA. She married Cargle BRANCH
Sr., son of
Pinkney Eugene BRANCH and Alice Almeta SMITH, on 8 May 1938. She and
Cargle

Franklin, LA, at age 43.

(a) Earl Lannie GILMORE was born on 27 February 1931 at Ft. Necessity,

He married Nell Jean BUCHAN on 12 May 1954.

(6) Everlee TARVER was born on 27 January 1906 at Winnsboro, Franklin,
LA. She married
David WHITE, son of Joseph Alexander WHITE and Lillie Octavie GORHAM.

age 89.
