West B. Tarver (b. 1770) m. Nancy Cockerham
Nancy Tarver (b. 1778) m. John Cockerham, Jr.
Allen Tarver (b. 1788) m. Elizabeth Cockerham

Nancy, John & Elizabeth Cockerham were siblings, children of John
Cockerham, Sr.

: 1730 A land grant for 335 acres in St. Stephen's Parish, Johnston Co.,
NC, is granted John Tarburt, but is signed John Tarver, and dated for 13
Sep 1730 on the north side of the Neuse River, for yearly rent of 21
shillings and five [jeoned?], payable in March and Sept of every year
thereafter by John Tarver or his heirs, forever.
: 1784 On 05 June (survey signed 8 Nov 1784), "seven pounds sterling
money" is paid by one Thomas Tarver for a grant of 300 acres in
Orangeburg, South Carolina, for Thomas Tarver and his heirs.
: 1785 The following year, on 01 Jan., "eight pounds three shillings
sterling money" is paid by one John Tarver for 350 acres in Orangeburg
Co., SC, surveyed 25 Nov 1785.
: 1791 On 29 Feb. 1791, West Tarver purchases 220 acres in Barnwell
District, surveyed 21 Aug 1801.

: 1790 Census, heads of households in SC shows the following JOHN Tarver
hh, free wht, no slaves.

The 2 males, under 16, may be Allen and West Tarver, who marry Elizabeth
and Nancy Cockerham, d/o John Cockerham, Sr. One of the females would be
Nancy Tarver who marries John Cockerham, Jr, s/o John Cockerham,
Sr. These Cockerham / Tarver families move into Amite County area
ca. 1803-1804.

The America State Papers (vol.2, p.244) lists among applications to the
Land Office west of Pearl river, "to settlers on lands ceded to the US
under the Act of Congress on the 3rd of Mar 1807," applications for:
West Tarver no. 27, 13 Jul 1807 on the waters of the Amite, 320
acres
John Tarver no. 51, 13 Jul 1807 on the waters of the Amite, 320
acres
John Cockerham no.45, 13 Jul 1807 on the waters of the Amite, 320
acres
